Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American politician, attorney and vice president of United States. She is the first female vice president and is the highest-ranking female official in U.S history. As a member of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and she was a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected as San Francisco's district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. Between 2017 and 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election making her the second African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and the legalization of cannabis which could lead to the citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. The attention of the nation was drawn by her outspoken examination of Trump administration officials during Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
